It’s been 100% confirmed that Meizu’s next phone M9 would run Android. Meizu’s CEO J.Wong ever made a promise that Meizu would help M8 users upgrade their M8 to Android OS, which would charge a fee of only 300 Yuan (about $44 USD ). This definitely was good news to M8 users, because everything has showed that Meizu would focus on Android in the future and Windows CE is no longer their love.

But later J.Wong ate this piece of sweet word completely. He said in Meizu’s official forum that because the meizu core tech team was very small with less than 20 members so they didn’t have enough resource to provide the Android-to-M8 service and had to suspend it, while they have to put all effort on M9 project. Instead of Meizu company, he hoped voluntary developers can help to complete this project.

Today J.Wong announced Meizu started M8 Android open source project that was hosted on Google code with the target to port Android OS to M8, and said that Meizu would provide tech support to some develop teams and developers. Now the project has got Android firmware developed by Meizu for download, and the source codes would be added soon.
