Shanzhai ebook readers from Shenzhen

The news about Lenovo to launch Tianji IBook EB-605 ebook reader appeared on one of China’s biggest tech website Zol.com.cn, so we though it’s kinda believable, though from the picture we didn’t see the Lenovo logo on the device. But a spokesman from Lenovo company just clearly denied that news, and told Chinese news portal 163.com, “Tianji IBook EB-605 isn’t our product. We haven’t made  any ebook reader.”

So, the “Tianji IBook EB-605″ thing probably is a trick made by some Shanzhai maker in Shenzhen to get exposures for its products. We’ve heard from some reports that many Shenzhen Shanzhai makers took ebook reader as the next lucrative business for them to earn big money from, hoping to duplicate the success of knockoff phones. Ebook readers from them with names like DigiBook, NUBook, BeBooK, WalkBook are selling in Shenzhen, with prices ranging from 400 Yuan  ($58)  to 1500 Yaun ($220). No surprise if you find this Tianji IBook EB-605 at a consumer electronics mall in Shenzhen.
