Xp.com owner launched Windows XP alike Ubuntu based Ylmf OS
The Ylmf team became known in China as the maker of the Ylmf Windows XP, a very popular pirated Windows XP that provided by Ylmf for the users to download for free. In the past two years Microsoft began to take serious law action against pirate in China, and the maker of another famous pirated Windows XP Tomato garden Windows XP was jailed for 4 years. So the best days seem to have gone. A year ago Ylmf company claimed the end to their Ylmf Windows XP project and switch their bussiness to customized Linux OS. Several month ago, this company bought the domain name xp.com. This super domain name currently points to Ylmf’s offical website. Today the company launched their OS called Ylmf OS. It’s an Ubuntu based OS, and its UI looks no different from Windows XP UI. If privated Windows XP is no longer available in China now, then this Windows XP alike OS will definitely hit big success in China. But it seems that’s never going to happen.

Well for one thing, people who use XP will have Windows applications that work on XP, unfortunately if they don’t have a box to run the windows applications in, of course it will fail it is Ubuntu, and Wine is crap really, so it is useless.

My hard drive crashed in my XP system. So, I decided to give Ylmf a try. I couldn’t be happier that I did.
It does take a little effort to set up some thing that are just taken for granted in XP, after all it is Linux… Not Windows, but I was even able to get scanning and Print to FAX going. You just have to do a little reserch to find equivelent Linux software. And now… Both my desktop and laptop systems are much faster and do everything I could posibly want them to do! I strongly recomend it for for those that like the look of windows and the freedom of Linux.

I’ve downloaded the ISO, burned it, restarted the computer, but reaching the login screen; it asks for a user name and password, which I cant find anywhere, so is this supposed to be easy to figure out or what, why won’t they give the username & passqword??
I’d appreciate any help with the user and password
Thanks

@ Onlyme:
Your right I tride booting to just the Live CD and I couldn’t figue out the password either. I had origionaly followed the instructions for creating a Bootable USB Stick and that worked out perfectly for my trial. I then used the CD to install to my new Hard Drive. I tell you truely… My two systems run better than they ever had under XP.
After installation I recommend putting a password on the root account. I beleive everyone willing to try it will like it.

@ MoRo:
Thanks for the tips… but unfortunately my PC is so old it won’t boot from a usb stick… guess I’ll have to go get a new HD to install Ylmf OS… which I need anyway, but I couldn’t wait to try the Live CD mode. I’m also planing to build a new PC soon so it won’t be long now… but in the meantime I hope someone knows about the user & password for Live CD mode. They should have at least included it in a text file or in the Readme.html file.

All you have to do in the trial mode, just wait and it will automatically load infor you to try it out. just try it and It will work. I did and it worked for me, so just do ti okay.

I started the cd with `check for defects`; it says there were errors in 1 file. I checked the md5sum, both from the download and from the cd. They were ok.
Then i started the cd and chose for the live cd, it needed a password, since i don`t know any passwords i had to start again and now i chose to install. Unlike ubuntu it starts right away with installing. The install worked, apart from the auto login.
It seems to use grub2, the one that sometimes gives problems; in my case it gives a disturbance during the start until Yl has started, so no other OS can be used.
I wanted to give it to a friend, whose windows has problems to start. So that he can surf the internet, but with the password problem i must look for an other solution.
