China Mobile released Android-based OPhone SDK 1.0

August 2nd, 2009 | 1 Comment | Posted in Industrial News

China Mobile realsed  OPhone SDK 1.0  for OPhone app developers  on Aug 2, with a slogan ” learn, and create your OPhone Application.” The SDK was realsed on the website set up for OPhone developers :ophonesdn.com. On the website , there are some others resource, including documents and some showcases.China Mobile may not agree the word “android-based” used in the title, because we can’t find the word “android” on ophonesdn.com. On the introduction of what’s OPhone on the website, they just describe it as a linux-based mobile OS. Yes, we can’t say what they said is wrong. Android is linux-based, isn’t it?

At this stage it’s a little early to tell whether OPhone can attract enough developers, but in Chinese community, developers are pessimistic about China Mobile’s app store, because they thought Chinese customers didn’t have the habit to pay for the software they use, no matter how cheap the software is.
