Philips V808 turns out to be an OMS phone
So this phone, Philips V808, will be launched exclusively for China Mobile. OMS is developed by China Mobile, based on Android source code, but with a different application layout, and even has an iPhone alike UI. Some popular Google applications like android market were taken away and replaced with China Mobile’s own services. Beside Philips V808, there are two other OMS phone: Dopod A6188, Lenovo O1. The OMS phones have a family name: OPhone, so Philips V808 is an OPhone, that’s why we see information says Philips V808 is powered by OPhone OS. Really sad news. From the information I got from Chinese community, China customers don’t have much enthusiasm toward those Ophones. Till now we don’t know much hardware information about this phone, but what for sure is that it has no 3G, no wi-fi, and no multi-touch.

“The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.”
